1. History 1. 1. January 13, 2004 - Flag acquisition
Flag Telecom started in 1990 as leading provider of international wholesale network transport and communication services with under sea cables of 50,000 km. In 2001 Flag filed for a bankruptcy under chapter 11. In 2002 it emerged from bankruptcy. In Jan 2004 Reliance Infocom (now renamed as Reliance Communications) acquired Flag Telecom for a valuation of US$ 211 million for a control of 100% equity of the company. Post merger Flag was renamed as Reliance Globalcom, which manages the global telecom operations of India's largest integrated telecom service provider - Reliance Communications. [2]
1. 2. May 26, 2008 - Vanco acquisition Established in 1988, Vanco was the pioneering and leading global Virtual Network Operator. The acquisition of Vanco added $365 million (Rs. 1,550crore) to the annual revenue of Reliance Globalcom through secure long-term contracts with large enterprise customers, It also added over 220 MNCs to Reliance Globalcom's customer base expanding its managed network footprint in over 40,000 locations across 163 countries. It also increased Reliance Globalcom's tally of enterprise customers to over 1,400. Vanco did not own telecoms assets and therefore had the freedom to source infrastructure from the most suitable Asset Based Carriers (ABCs) on a global basis. It provided enterprise clients directly or through partners with cost effective, customised and fully managed network solutions.
Vanco was recognised by Gartner to be amongst world's top 5 Managed Global Network players. Its blue chip customer base included AVIS, British Airways, Siemens, Virgin Megastores. Being rated as the world's "Best Network Service Provider" for three years in a row since 2005,[citation needed] 90% of Vanco's revenue came from developed markets of UK, US, France and Germany. Reliance Globalcom, through this acquisition, added nine Network Management Centers to its integrated and innovative global service systems and processes. Reliance Globalcom got a significant advantage through Vanco's relationships with over 700 global, regional and domestic carriers capable of offering services in 230 countries. Reliance Globalcom's sales and channel organisation structure provides service the US, UK, France, Germany, Benelux, Singapore and Australia. [3]
1. 3. July 16, 2007 - Yipes acquisition
In December 20, 2007 Reliance Communications Ltd. received approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for the merger of U.S. based Yipes Holdings, Inc. The FCC is an independent United States government agency charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. Reliance Communications announced the U.S. $300 million acquisition of Yipes in July 2007.
Yipes Holdings was the parent company of Yipes Enterprise Services, the leading provider of managed Ethernet and application delivery services for global enterprises. Yipes' specialised offerings and obsession with customer satisfaction ensured that the company delivered the best quality experience. Over 1,000 enterprise customers worldwide relied on Yipes' high-performance managed services to improve their competitive advantage. [4]

3. Products 3. 1. Connectivity Solutions Delivered over Reliance Globalcom's own global fibre-optic network using SDH/DWDM technology, this service includes backup traffic paths by default for service resilience and availability.
International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) The IPLC service provides a dedicated, managed, point-to-point connectivity to locations throughout Asia, India, Europe, the Middle East and USA. The service is designed to enable enterprises meet their connectivity requirements better, by providing an end-to-end access to customer premises. [5]
Ethernet Private Line (EPL) The EPL service provide a dedicated, managed, point-to-point connectivity to locations throughout Asia, India, Europe, and USA.. [6]
Managed Premium Internet Layer 2 private connections from Reliance Globalcom POP to the customer premise with the lowest latency between the customer's equipment and the tier 1 connection to its internet backbone. [7] Internet access is handed off on a rate limited Ethernet port and can be provisioned for in 1 Mbps increments up to 1 Gbps.

Enterprise Global Ethernet The Enterprise Global Ethernet Service portfolio comprises point-to-point and fully-meshed services offered within metropolitan areas and also between metropolitan areas on a global scale.
FinancialConnect Fully-managed Ethernet-based financial Extranet engineered for high speed, high performance delivery of financial data and trading applications for electronic traders and financial services firms that require low latency to execute trades.
LegalConnect This service offers legal institutions of all sizes a network through Reliance Globalcom's Ethernet-based community based network solution.
3. 3. Business Solutions Managed Contact Centre Service (MCCS) This is a cheap alternate to premise based solution built over network services on NGN globally. This offers various categories of services like multi site routing, load balancing, Intelligent Network (IN) capabilities, along with value added transport services, helping organizations to expand operations distributed globally, based on Opex model offering differentiated value.
Security services This service is designed to address the concerns about data security arising out of opening enterprise networks and data to business partners, suppliers, and mobile workforces that enable enterprises to respond quickly to their customer needs, minimize costs, optimize inventories and minimize time-to-market their products and services. The service includes managed firewalls, software/personal firewalls for remote access, security monitoring, intrusion detection, load balancing of multiple circuits, anti-virus for email and web services, content email, web and URL, proxy and caching, hosting, vulnerability scanning to defined servers or devices and consultancy. Co-location Centres situated in major business locations in the US, Europe and Asia provide access to domestic and international bandwidth from multiple carriers, allowing customers to expand their international reach to new markets. Application Aware Networking (AAN) The service provides full visibility of the applications flowing across the network, additionally applications are graded in line with the client's business priority per application, allowing the service levels to be set, managed and operated within defined tolerances. Capacity Services Capacity Service (CS) provides a dedicated, managed, point-to-point unprotected connectivity for major telecom carriers to locations throughout Asia, India, Europe, the Middle East and USA. Global Ethernet Global Ethernet service is a protected Layer-2 virtual private network with the an Ethernet LAN, low latencies, built-in multi-level resilience and multiple classes of service. IP Transit IP Transit service is a premium wholesale internet service designed for Telecom carriers, ISPs, content and ADN/CDN providers. MPLS VPN MPLS VPN is a layer-3, carrier-grade, enterprise-ready, fully-managed service that provides IP WAN connectivity to customer sites in over 123 countries. MPLS VPN service is offered on Reliance Globalcom's privately owned global MPLS backbone. The MPLS VPN service coverage is offered through over 235 POPs in 38 countries through its own network, affiliates and subsidiaries.
Global calling card An international long distance calling service used by over 2.5 million customers worldwide, offering calls to over 200 countries across the globe.
VoIP based global calling services Reliance iCall is a VoIP based international calling service which helps customers make voice calls across the world using thier PC. One can make free PC to PC calls along with PC-to-phone and phone-to-PC calls with access to value-added services like instant messaging, audio conferencing and other multimedia features.
Audio conferencing MindBridge is a global audio conferencing solution that reaches 90% of the world's population. The service is available across 230 countries and territories with local dial-in numbers in over 40 countries to provide innovative conferencing features and services.
SIM based International Calling Services With Passport International SIM from Reliance Globalcom, customers can travel over 160 countries, make and receive calls. [10]
